Virtuoso appoints a VP of sustainability

Travel agency consortium Virtuoso has named a sustainability leader and appointed two regional general managers.

Javier Arredondo

Javier Arredondo is Virtuoso’s vice president of sustainability. He has been with Virtuoso for two years as general manager of Latin America and the Caribbean. Before that, he was the founder and 20-year CEO of Travesias Media, Virtuoso’s Latin America publishing partner.

“Virtuoso has been an active champion for sustainable travel for well over a decade, and we are deepening our commitment by placing Javier in this important role,” said Jessica Hall Upchurch, the consortium’s vice chair and sustainability strategist. “Together, we will focus on strengthening our leadership position and broadening our mission by leveraging Virtuoso’s sphere of influence, both within the travel and tourism industry and with high-net-worth travelers, to further amplify and accelerate Virtuoso’s sustainability efforts.”

Maria Bea Sajon

Maria Bea Sajon

Maria Bea Sajon was named general manager of Latin America and the Caribbean, taking over for Arredondo. Virtuoso said Sajon brings “extensive experience in the Latin markets” to the organization.

Hanna Hinz

Hanna Hinz

Hanna Hinz was named general manager of continental Europe, a new post at Virtuoso, effective Feb. 20. Hinz comes to Virtuoso with experience working at a Virtuoso travel agency and a preferred hotel.

Virtuoso had an EMEA division, but Hinz will focus on business separate from the U.K., the Middle East and Africa. 
Karen Joyce will continue as general manager of the U.K. and Ireland.
